| Heimatfest is Jordan's annual community festival held
on
the first Friday and Saturday after Labor Day in September. It is held
each year at our beautiful
Lagoon Park. You may notice the picturesque water fall in the
background. This is one of the many wonderful sites in Lagoon
Park. There is also a small lake of about 17 acres in size and many
gazebos surrounded by large shade trees.
Heimatfest is German and means home fest. Each year this festival is a home coming for many of the residents of Jordan both past and present. Almost all of the local service organization tend to a food booth at the festival so you can meet most of the town on Heimatfest weekend. The festival expanded to two days in 2001 with the addition of Car Cruise night on Friday. The Car Cruise was started and run by Barry Ullmann of Jordan. Together with the help of many locate residents and most of the Jordan Fire Department over 300 classic cars and trucks are parked in downtown Jordan. This event usually starts around 5:00pm on Friday. There are many food booths, a street dance and beer gardens. Heimatfest itself starts on Saturday with a parade at 11 a.m. through downtown Jordan. The gates open at the park at noon with food and fun for the whole family. There are many events such as the crowning of the Chamber Sponsored Miss Jordan, horse shoe contest and a volleyball tournament throughout the day. There are many games and rides for younger kids and the beer garden runs all day for the older folks. Each year there are many top notch bands and performers. The end of the evening is usually one the best fireworks shows around. Come and enjoy a wonderful weekend at Heimatfest!! |
